In the context of the new performance Mystica (MOVEDBYMATTER – Muziektheater Transparant), MOVEDBYMATTER is organizing a beginners workshop on hair hanging or hair suspension this week with hair suspension coach Ingrid Esperanza, who will teach you the tricks of this age-old art form step by step. Hair suspension requires utmost concentration, good knowledge of muscles and posture and (of course) a meticulous hair ritual.

Mystica combines circus and music theater, hair suspension and choir singing. In this performance, the makers return to the contribution of female mystics throughout the centuries. Many female mystical figures are on the margins of our historiography, despite their important contributions to science, poetry, art, etc. The performance investigates what these women can teach us today and how we can search for individual and collective transformation. Mystica follows the lost undercurrent of mystical, feminine energy in our culture and thus raises questions about what we can or should learn from our own underexposed aspects.
