Studio Dommelhof: Elke Van der Kelen

Elke Van der Kelen worked in residence at Dommelhof on ‘A Play of Space’: an immersive installation at the intersection of architecture, dance and robotics. Eight moving walls slowly slide back and forth, creating new spaces that feel open, closed, hidden or embraced. During the residency, the focus was on light and sound, which made the experience even more intense.

As a visitor, you become part of this moving play of space, while the scent of poplars, the soft roar of engines and subtle sounds stimulate your senses. The slow movement invites you to stand still and consciously experience the changing emptiness between the walls – a soothing, almost meditative experience.
