In residence: Pablo Lilienfeld & Federico Vladimir
08.04.2025

Pablo Lilienfeld is a musician and choreographer. Federico Vladimir is a visual artist. They have been a couple since 2014 and also make art together. Their work is closely connected to their relationship. They start from their own intimacy to investigate how we can be together and how we can tell stories about ourselves in a different, less traditional way. Pablo and Federico are working on the project ‘Monica’ during their residency.
Monica happens to be the name of the mothers of both artists. This coincidence has fascinated them from the beginning of their collaboration. Both Monicas were born in Argentina in the 1950s, as daughters of European war refugees. Later, they both emigrated to Spain as adults.
In ‘Monica’, the artists use role-playing to playfully and exploratively explore their shared history and diaspora past. It is not just about where you come from, but especially about who you become. They place equal emphasis on non-traditional, equal relationships as on classic family ties. This creates a web of images that deviates from familiar family tree structures.
On Friday April 11th at 15:00 you are most welcome at the showing. Please note: the work is suitable for an audience of 16 years and older due to nudity. You can register below, free of charge.
