Biography
Benjamin Vandewalle attended the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp and graduated from P.A.R.T.S. in 2006. Since his early work, ‘perception’ has been the central theme. He creates movement – not only in the dancer’s body, but also in that of the spectator. With his work, he wants to share new experiences and perspectives with a wide audience.

For his project Walking the Line, choreographer Benjamin Vandewalle treks into the city. He leads a group of spectators in a series of deliberate actions: some actions are banal, others unconventional. The participants transform from individuals into one collective body.
Walking the Line is a walking choreography that reshapes and reinterprets public space. It is a sequence of tableaux vivants that allows the audience to rediscover the potential of public space. By taking a different physical position, being part of a group and looking at things from new perspectives, Vandewalle wants to cause a shift in the way we perceive our daily environment.
Walking the Line is a mix between performance, choreography and installation with a strong visual impact. The performance revolves around movement, and its surprising physical, psychological, social and spatial consequences.
