Watchtower
Johannes Bellinkx
Description
Johannes Bellinkx reinterprets the watchtower as a symbol of the human being who surveys the landscape and sees it clearly at his feet. In Watchtower, the participant is led back to the ground and moved to a physical encounter with the earth. The visitor walks in the border area between natural landscape and artificial/industrial terrain, between the man-made and the more untouched landscape. During this walk you will encounter various constellations, like stations, in which you can take a seat. Instead of looking out over the land, your body becomes part of the ground and an auditory landscape opens up that reaches your body not only through hearing but also by means of vibrating resonance speakers. It is an exercise in attentive disappearance and radical modesty. Instead of walking on the ground or looking down on the earth from above, you go inside and put your ear and body to listen.
